Hi there! My name is David Anders. Not the David Anders from all those TV shows, just a seasoned writer based in the Charlotte, NC area. Here’s an overview of my writing career and a look at some of my recent work while writing for the tech news website CNET.
My content creation career began at Townsquare Interactive, where I wrote SEO copy for hundreds of small businesses in a variety of industries. Next, I joined marketing and media giant Red Ventures and served on multiple teams – DirecTV, Allconnect and others – before transitioning to CNET to help build out their Broadband vertical.
I wrote more than 300 articles while at CNET. You’ll find a glimpse of my catalog below, followed by a few disclaimers.
Product and service reviews
- Starlink Internet Review: Low Satellites, High Prices – Often sat in the #2 spot for “Starlink internet,” but occasionally passed the official Starlink website. Averaged well over a thousand pageviews daily.
- Google Fiber Review
- Nest Doorbell 2nd Gen Review: Useful Features, Simple Design – This review and others like it featured hands-on testing.
Educational blogs
- Internet Connection Types Explained – I found that many people think “the internet is just the internet” and do not realize the connection type, not necessarily the provider, is the key difference maker in performance and value.

Guides and How-tos
- How to Keep Your Internet on When the Power Goes Out – Always saw a big spike in traffic after a major storm or other event that caused widespread power outages. The traffic boost was nice, but I like to think the content genuinely helped people stay connected.

Best lists
- Best Internet and Mobile Bundles – This page, and others like it, required monthly updates to verify pricing and highlight any newly available deals. The regular updates helped ensure the content was accurate, but they typically also provided a nice SEO boost.

News coverage
- Update on Amazon’s Project Kuiper
- HughesNet Satellites Are Bringing Faster Internet to Rural America
- Spectrum Voluntarily Boosts Speeds, Lowers Bundle Price
- You Can Play the New Call of Duty Early. Here’s How – This article (and others in my catalog that aren’t broadband or home tech related) likely came from a speed desk shift: four hour blocks of scanning the latest news breaks and writing quick articles on them. During these shifts, I covered SpaceX launches, video game developments, automotive news and anything else that may be of interest to readers.
Geo-specific content
- Best Internet Providers in Charlotte – This was the first official CNET broadband geo page launched. I created the template and the team contributed to hundreds of these.
- Best Internet Providers in New York City
- Compare Internet Providers in Mooresville, NC – Not a CNET page, but one I worked on intensely during my time with Allconnect. The content is fully automated, allowing for the quick creation and updating of thousands of location-specific pages. I served as the content lead on the team project and wrote the initial copy template.
And finally, something a little more fun: How to Make Friends in Your New Neighborhood.
Thanks for checking out samples of my work! Please keep in mind that:
- I am the original author of the articles listed above, but some content, specifically the headline and introductory paragraphs, may have been updated by other team members since my departure from CNET.
- CNET primarily creates long-form articles, as reflected by my published catalog. However, I have experience writing short-form content, emails, social media posts, paid search copy, cart/chatbox content and more.
- Sometimes, the actual writing is the easy part. Effective content requires research, performance tracking, uploading to a CMS and other work you don’t see.
